Setting up a TP-Link fiber optic connection to the router

You can set up your TP-Link router for fiber optic internet by connecting it to your ONT, configuring the WAN settings, and securing your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1: Connect the Hardware

1. Locate your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) provided by your ISP. This device converts the fiber optic signal into Ethernet for your router .

3. Save the changes and restart the router if prompted.

Step 5: Configure LAN and Security (Optional)

1. Adjust the LAN IP address and subnet mask if needed to avoid conflicts with other devices .
2. Enable additional security features such as MAC filtering, firewall settings, and guest networks for enhanced protection.

Step 6: Update Firmware

1. Check for the latest firmware on the TP-Link website or via the router's admin panel.
2. Updating firmware ensures compatibility with fiber speeds and improves network stability .

Step 7: Placement and Optimization

1. Place the router in a central location away from walls and high-powered appliances.
