EPON optical modules are classified by device type, transmission rate, link budget, and operating temperature, with standards defined by IEEE 802.3ah and 802.3av.
Classification by Device Type
EPON modules are divided into OLT (Optical Line Terminal) modules and ONU (Optical Network Unit) modules.
