Assembly Steps

1. Position the Flange Halves: Place the two halves of the split flange around the pipe or hose, ensuring that any painted or marked ends are correctly aligned and the fitting is centered over the mating port .
2. Initial Bolt Tightening: Insert bolts and tighten them finger tight to hold the flange halves in place without distorting the assembly .
3. Check Alignment and Clearance: Ensure the hose or pipe does not contact other components or machinery. For hoses crossing articulation points or steering systems, check for interference during movement .
4. Torque Bolts Properly: Follow the prescribed torque sequence for the specific split-flange type. For some applications, the combined gap measurements should not exceed 0.16 in. (4 mm) to ensure proper sealing .
5. Seal Verification: For flanges using O-rings, ensure the O-ring is seated in its groove and compressed evenly when bolts are tightened, forming a static seal against the port face .
6. Final Testing: Operate the system (engine, pump, or hydraulic implement) and move all controls to verify that the flange and hose remain clear of obstructions. If contact occurs, loosen bolts, reposition, and retest .

• Vertical or Angled Installations: May require additional lifting devices or hinge designs to safely position the flange halves .
• Lubrication: Avoid using lubricants unless specified, as they can affect torque values and seal integrity .
