Step 1: Prepare the Fiber and Connector

Step 3: Insert and Secure the Connector

  • Position the fiber or connector into the splice closure or connector housing carefully, avoiding twisting or bending the fiber excessively .
  • Use sealing rings or strips if provided, placing them around the cable entry points to create a tight seal .
  • Wrap self-adhesive sealing tape between the sealing rings to align with the cable diameter and enhance moisture protection .
  • Tighten clamps or bolts in a diagonal or recommended sequence to secure the connector without crushing the fiber .

Step 4: Cure and Inspect

  • Allow the epoxy to cure fully according to the manufacturer's specifications, which may involve room temperature curing or controlled heating .
  • Inspect the seal for gaps, bubbles, or incomplete coverage. Ensure the fiber remains in a natural state without torque or stress .
  • Test optical performance to confirm that insertion loss and reflection loss are within acceptable limits before final deployment .
